ASCO's UK business announces £60k fundraising total

ASCO’s UK business donated nearly £60,000 to a range of charities and local community groups in 2012.

The £60k total included nearly £20k to ASCO’s Northern North Sea (Aberdeen and Peterhead) 2012 charity of the year, ‘Monty’s Maggie’s Appeal’ and a further £4k to ASCO’s Great Yarmouth and Sheffield charities of the year, James Pagent Children’s Ward and Treetop House.

Around 50 charities from around the UK benefited from the remainder of the £60k total including CLIC Sargent, Danestone Boys Brigade, Peterhead Aged & Infirm, Aberdeen Neo-Natal Unit, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, Blundeston in Bloom, AFC Mosborough, JDRF, Brakes, SANDS and Starlight.

ASCO staff in the UK have now selected their chosen charities for 2013. In Aberdeen and Peterhead, it’s Cash for Kids and in Great Yarmouth and Sheffield it’s East Anglian Children’s Hospice and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. 

ASCO’s Europe Logistics and Operations Director, Zak Fleming, commented: “We are delighted to have raised so much money for local charities last year, especially as the majority of charities we support are chosen by our staff so represent causes close to our hearts. We’re looking forward to working with other local community groups, charities and of course, Cash for Kids, East Anglian Children’s Hospice and Yorkshire Air Ambulance this year.”

The £60k fundraising total includes corporate donations as well as fundraising by staff via a variety of fundraising initiatives throughout the year. ASCO staff are asked to choose a charity each year to benefit from the company’s ‘headline’ charity fundraising and company donations. Staff are also encouraged to submit suggestions to ASCO’s charity and community committee ‘Lifestyle’ throughout the year for donations and support to other local groups and charities.
