In early 2013, ASCO’s specialist marine technical and advisory business, Seletar Shipping celebrated a tremendous 25 years in business. The achievement is made all the more special as the team have recently added a further three locations to the ASCO map, significantly increasing their presence in the UK.
Shaun Eardley one of the company’s first ever employees, now Seletar Managing Director, tells us more.
“Reaching the 25 year milestone is a remarkable achievement for us and testament to the hard work, dedication and drive of every member of the Seletar team over the years.
“This year we’ve used our experience to embark upon considerable geographic expansion. Agency operations are now established in Invergordon, Sunderland and we will be operational in Lerwick by the end of 2012.”
The company’s spread overall, now takes us to seven key locations down the eastern seaboard of the UK – Lerwick, Scrabster, Invergordon, Peterhead, Aberdeen, Sunderland and Great Yarmouth.
Sunderland has been led by the needs of a key subsea offshore wind client in support of their barges and vessels, all of which are engaged in cable lay contracts for the renewables sector.
In Invergordon we’re predominately supporting a client with shore based support services for their subsea engineering operations.
In Lerwick, we need to position ourselves for future work that may come from existing clients. We’re also very mindful of the potential opportunities that could arise from West of Shetland through clients involved in the subsea, seismic and survey sectors.
These locations not only help support our existing customer base, but allow us to market ourselves to potential customers – providing a greater breadth of locations from where we can service their requirements.
Seletar shipping started life in Great Yarmouth in 1987 with just 3 employees now it employs around 60 people.
